Knowing the course of life still does not fully prepare you for the loss of your parents and the drift that sends you into. We lost Mom December 20, 2016. Our family never wanted to talk or prepare for this time, so as Mom passed in the hospital, our family had nothing arranged. Not even a burial plot. The details and energy needed to plan Mom's departure came at a time when our family was in it's worse emotional state. We reached out to Wheeler via phone from the hospital and Kristen answered not just the phone but our prayers. They made immediate arrangements to receive Mom and accommodated a meeting within 30 minutes for my Brother and I to go through the arrangements. Within two hours, everything was planned and that happened because of Kristen's excellent care. She gave us options, no pressure and left us alone when we needed that space to talk and think. I can't imagine what the Wheeler staff had to do to accommodate our needs, but Mom left us on Tuesday and by Thursday we held her goodbye with her in her resting place by Friday. The ability to off load the concerns, and details and know that Mom was in great hands was worth more than anything to us. The facilities in Mingo were excellent and the service arrangements lovely. Kristen spent time emailing and texting us information we need as we needed it. We never felt overwhelmed. Wheeler handled it all beautifully. I don't know that as a society we really appreciate those that serve individuals in loss, but they provide vital comfort and care at a time when it is most needed.
