James "Jim" Marcinko

James “Jim” Marcinko, 82, of Mingo Junction, Ohio passed away Friday February 10, 2017 at the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, Ohio.

He was born September 10, 1934 in Mingo Junction, Ohio, a son of the late John and Elizabeth (Ubrin) Marcinko. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and George Marcinko; and four sisters, Anna Matty, Mary Tatar, Elizabeth Woodward and Sue Tatar.

Jim was a retired mechanic and has restored over 350 cars in his lifetime. He was the former owner/operator of Marcinko SOHIO Gas Station in Mingo. He worked at the former Goodfriends Appliance Store in Mingo for 12 years. Jim also worked in the Maintenance Department at Jefferson County JVS, Trinity Health System and finally retiring from Titanium Metals in Toronto, Ohio. He was also a police officer for the Brilliant Police Department and Protestant by Faith.

Surviving are his two sons, David Marcinko and James Marcinko, of Mingo Junction, OH; a granddaughter, Cacharel Marcinko of Unionport, OH; the mother of his children, Barbara Marcinko of Mingo Junction, OH; and a sister, Dorothy Makara, of Mingo Junction, OH.  

He will be sadly missed by his morning coffee friends from Mingo Diner.

In following with Jim’s request he was cremated and there will be no services. Private burial at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo Junction.
