Vincent Zumpano Obituary

Vincent Robert Zumpano, 87, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away peacefully Saturday May 21, 2022 at home.

He was born August 28, 1934 in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late Thomas and Angelina (Mastroianni) Zumpano. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Margaret (Verba) Zumpano on January 23, 2019; and his fur baby Tipper on June 13, 1998.

Vince worked at the former Industrial Tobacco and Candy Company, he then purchased that company and it became Tri State Food Service. He retired from there in 1990 and then worked for NOVA as an air quality inspector and Tri-State Electric & Machine Co. until his final retirement in 2000. He graduated from Steubenville High School in 1953. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Vince is a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Mingo Knights of Columbus Council 4361.  Vince was a former councilman for the Village of Mingo Junction and former head of the Jefferson County Democratic Party.  He helped establish funding for various projects for the Senior Citizens of Mingo Junction.  Vince was honored as "Man of the Year" by the Steubenville Chamber of Commerce for his work in bringing the Ohio Valley premiere "The Deer Hunter" movie.  He enjoyed golfing, extended vacations at his home in Myrtle Beach, dipping his toes in the sand and doing the "Vinnie float" in the ocean.  Vince (Pappy) took great pride in being involved in all his grandson's accomplishments and sporting events.  He loved planning parties and charitable and political fundraisers.  Vince was the life of the party.

Surviving are his daughters, Michelle “Shelly” (Eugene “Pat”) McKitrick of Mingo Junction, OH and Tamara “Tammy” (Ralph) Durante of Follansbee, WV and a grandson, Chad Durante; and his pets Mango and Tucker.

The family would like to thank our very special caregivers that have cared for our father over the past years.  You made it possible for him to live out his remaining years in the comfort of his own home.  Many thanks to his family doctor, Dr. Kubicki and his staff for always being available when we had any questions.  Thanks to Capital Home Health Agency for providing the much needed care at home.

Whenever someone needed help, a job or a favor, they always knew they could count on Vince.  He will be remembered as a kind, caring, generous man and we will greatly miss his ornery grin.
