Verda A. (Slivka) Ingram

Verda A. Ingram, 79, of Brilliant, OH, passed away Tuesday September 24, 2024 at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

She was born June 11, 1945 in Steubenville, Ohio a daughter of the late Michael and Corolean R. “Bub” (Roe) Slivka.

Verda was a cashier at the former Piergalinis store in Smithfield and also at the former Brilliant Convenient Store. She also worked at the former credit bureau in Steubenville. Verda was a member of the former New Alexandria Community Chapel and is currently a member of the Brilliant Methodist Church and the Mary Martha Circle at the church. She was the former Mayor of New Alexandria, OH, having been one of the first female mayors in the State of Ohio.  She was an auxiliary member of the New Alexandria Fire Department and a member of the former Womens Club in Brilliant where she served as President

Surviving are two sons, John (Lori) Ingram of Brilliant, OH and Kevin (Sharlene) Ingram of Unionport, OH; a sister, Mikelene (Joe) Loe of Simpsonville, SC; two grandchildren, Michael Jacob “Jake” Ingram of Brilliant, OH and Jeremy James and his fiancé Megan Hunter of Newark, OH; and a great-grandson, Joseph James.

Private services were held at Wheeler Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Daugherty officiating. Interment at New Alexandria Cemetery.
