Van A. Flesher, Sr., 68, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Friday October 8, 2021 at Acuity Specialty Hospital in Weirton, WV.
He was born February 24, 1953 in Mingo Junction, OH a son of the late William and Florell (Carpenter) Flesher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Jim and Bud Flesher; and four sisters, Kay Haught, Donna Kendle, Mary Jane Wells and Nancy Flesher.
Van was the owner and founder of Vans Iron Metal in Mingo Junction since 1989. He also enjoyed farming and his animals, especially his dogs.
Surviving are his wife, Sandy (McGlumphy) Flesher, whom he married on April 9, 1988; a son, Van (Jaimie) Flesher, Jr. of Mingo Junction, OH; two daughters, Becky Virtue of Mingo Junction, OH and Donna Kay (Allen) Anderson of Bloomingdale, OH; a sister, Barbara “Pat” Blanchard of Olmstead Falls, OH; seven grandchildren, Brianna, Courtney, Nathaniel, Noah, Makayla “Mikey”, Justin and Kylie; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, where his funeral services will be on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Albert Mitchem, officiating. Interment will follow at New Alexandria Cemetery.
