Ruth M. (Johnson) Himes

Ruth M. Himes, 93, of Brilliant, OH, passed away Wednesday July 3, 2024 at the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH.

She was born April 13, 1931 in Brilliant, Ohio, a daughter of the late Willard and Lena (Roush) Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Richard “Rich” Himes on April 18, 1989; and her sister, Donna Dalrymple.

Ruth was a homemaker. She was a member of the Brilliant Presbyterian Church and a former member of the womens service committee at the church where she worked the Wednesday morning church breakfast. She was a charter member of the Brilliant Fire Department Auxiliary; and she was also a member of two card clubs.

Surviving are two sons, Greg Himes of Brilliant; and Stacey (Cindy) Himes of Canal Winchester, OH; a daughter, Susan (John) Rokisky of Roanoke, VA; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Wingerter, John (Emily) Rokisky and Elise (Brian) Schoenberger; and six great-grandchildren, Cole, Alie, Parker, and Abbigail Wingerter, John Richard Rokisky, Jr. and Rachel Rokisky.

Friends will be received on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, OH, where her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jim Monogioudis and Rev. David Roberts, officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville, OH.
