Ronald E. “Ron” DiCarlo, Sr., 74, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Sunday August 11, 2019 in the Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, OH.

He was born February 6, 1945 in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late Frank J. and Geraldine S. “Jerry” (Cox) DiCarlo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and Randy DiCarlo.

Ron retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel where he worked for 33 years. He was the owner of the former DiCarlo’s Market in Mingo Junction for 15 years and he also built and established the Dollar General store on Paps Lane in Mingo.  Ron served his country for 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. He was the former Mayor of the Village of Mingo Junction. He was a member of the Schutzen Club in Mingo and enjoyed traveling and fishing. Ron loved rooting for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers. Mostly Ron enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and family, his family was everything to him.

Surviving are his wife, Pamela (Figel) DiCarlo, whom he married August 20, 1966; a son, Ronald E. DiCarlo, Jr. of Mingo Junction, OH; two daughters, Heather (Michael) Crawford of Westerville, OH and Tracy L. DiCarlo and her companion Dimas Cintron of Mingo Junction, OH; two sisters, Marlene (Frank) Fuscardo of Steubenville, OH and Bonnie Lou (Gary) DiLoreto of Ft. Meyers, FL; and five grandchildren, Michael, Micah and Aubriana DiCarlo and Ashley and Gabrielle Crawford.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Graveside services with military honors at Oakland Cemetery will be private.

Memorial contributions may be directed in Ron’s memory to Valley Hospice, Inc., 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, OH 43943.
