Robert "Gene" Eastham

Robert “Gene” Eastham, 68, of Rayland, OH, passed away suddenly Saturday December 7, 2019 at home.

He was born July 27, 1951 in Weirton, WV, a son of the late Robert L. Eastham and Phyllis M. (Parr) Eastham Hallmark.

Gene retired from Weirton Steel in 2011 just shy of 30 years. In his younger years he was a cement finisher. He served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam, as an electrician. He was a member of the Brilliant American Legion Post 573; the 25-year club at Weirton Steel Corp.; and the Plum Run Church of Christ in Christian Union. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most importantly spending time with his family. He had a heart of gold and never knew a stranger.

Surviving are the mother of his children Rebecca Eastham of Fremont, OH; his second wife, Carolyn Parr of Brilliant, OH; five children, Tina (Scott) Reiter, BobbieJo (Frank) Tolman, Robert E. Eastham, Jr. all of Fremont, OH, Douglas W. (Gabrielle) Anthony, Jr. and Cody (Anessia) Anthony, both of Brilliant, OH; six siblings, Ellie (the late Rich) Polito of Taylorsville, NC, William (Frostie) Eastham of Rayland, OH, Nancy (the late Dave, Jr.) Mains of Rayland, OH, Debra (Chuck) Snider of Whiteville, NC, Roger (Samantha) Eastham of Rayland, OH and Linda (Dan) McCain of Mingo Junction, OH; eleven grandchildren, Lexi and Stephen Reiter, Bryor (Grace) Tolman, Hunter and Saige Tolman, Hannah and William Eastham, Kami and Kloe Anthony and Cayson and Cruz Anthony; two great-grandchildren, Berkley and RaeLyn Tolman.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St. Brilliant, OH on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. There will also be viewing on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his funeral services at 12:00 noon, with Tom Derby, Minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville, OH with military honors by the Ohio Valley Veterans Squad.
