Richard E. "Dick" Beard, Sr.

Richard E. “Dick” Beard Sr., 91, formally of East Liverpool, Ohio passed away Friday October 13, 2023 at the Carriage Inn of Steubenville, OH.

He was born August 10, 1932, in Beaver Township, Mahoning County Ohio and was the son of the late Arthur R. and Elizabeth J. (Lute) Beard.

Horse racing for many years was his passion, as he owned and trained horses at Mountaineer Park in Chester, WV. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Cincinnati Reds, and Cleveland Indians along with the Green Bay Packers, and Washington Redskins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Doris M. (VanDruff) Beard, along with brothers Robert Beard and John Beard, and sisters Caroline Gould, Nancy Daugherty and Joanne Deemer.

Memories of Richard will be carried on by his son, Richard (Jennifer) Beard Jr. of Belmont, OH; his daughter, Christina (Nick) Krapanza of Imperial, PA; and five grandchildren, Olivia Beard, Colleen Beard, Joshua Beard, Nicholas Krapanza and Ava Krapanza.

Private services will be held at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, with Rev. James Hoff, officiating. Interment will follow in New Alexandria Cemetery.
