Richard J. Budash

Richard Budash, 76, of Steubenville, OH, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday May 30, 2023 at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh, PA.

He was born August 1, 1946 in Steubenville, OH a son of the late John and Rose (Sachini) Budash. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Amanda Budash, a son, USMC Captain Brock Richard Budash; and a sister, Deborah Holland.

Richard was a proud West Liberty University alumni. He was a teacher and former athletic director at Mingo Jr. High School. He went on to a career in insurance sales, where he retired from Allstate Insurance Agency. Richard enjoyed golfing, especially his annual golf trip to Conley with his friends. He was a long-standing member of the PAC. He cherished his friends and will be remembered as a kind, loyal gentleman who loved his family with all his heart!

Richard was a loving dedicated husband of 45 years, to his surviving wife Beverly (Wagner) Budash, whom he married June 30, 1978. Richard was a supporting and loving father to his son, Eric (Sarah) Budash of Oakdale, PA and his daughter, Courtney Budash of Steubenville, OH. Richard was a proud Pap and number one fan to his grandson, Cayden John Bracone.

Richard is also survived by his brother, John (Debbie) Budash of New Port Richey, FL; and brothers-in-law, Doug (Becky) Wagner, Chuck Wagner and David Holland. He is also survived and will be sadly missed by his dog Mazee. Richard will also be lovingly remembered by his nieces, neighbors, and friends. His memory and spirit will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

As per Richard’s request there will be no viewing. A memorial will be held at a later date.

Richard’s arrangements are in the care of Wheeler Funeral Home, Mingo Junction.
