Randy F. “Digger” DiCarlo, 66, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Monday March 12, 2018 in the emergency room at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.
He was born September 8, 1951 in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late Frank J. and Geraldine S. “Jerry” (Cox) DiCarlo. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary S. DiCarlo.
Digger worked for the Village of Mingo Junction until his final retirement in 2016. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. Randy enjoyed coaching boys baseball, girls softball and Mingo Chiefs football for many years. He was also an avid Packers fan even though he lived in Steelers territory.
Surviving are his wife, Esther “Essy” (Huggins) DiCarlo, whom he married on January 10, 1975; a daughter, Brandi (William) Bell of Mingo Junction, OH; a son, Nick DiCarlo of Wintersville, OH; a brother, Ron (Pam) DiCarlo of Mingo Junction, OH; two sisters, Marlene (Frank) Fuscardo of Steubenville, OH and Bonnie Lou (Gary) DiLoreti of Ft. Meyers, FL; and four grandchildren, Micayla “Munch” (Brandon) Hibbits, Austin Bell, Brandon Fleming and Taylor Bell.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, where his funeral services will take place on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Miller, officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo Junction, with military honors by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
