Patricia M. O'Dell

Patricia M. O’Dell, 83, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 26, 2021 in her home.

She was born May 17, 1938 in Mt. Pleasant, OH, a daughter of the late Rev. Joseph G. and Margaret J. (Milbert) Wheeler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell J. “Digger” O’Dell on February 5, 2019; a daughter, Sue Ann O’Dell on November 25, 2020; two infant daughters, Beth Ann and Barbara Burris; and a brother, Robert Wheeler.

Pat worked at the former Hazel Atlas Glass company in Wheeling, WV. She then worked at the Bobbi Brooks Fashions in Bellaire, OH where she was a seamstress. She was a secretary at the former Rudners Furniture Store in Martins Ferry. When they closed, she moved to Mingo and started working at the former Harmony Tool and Die as a secretary. She worked for many years at the former Ohio Valley Hospital starting out in registration then moved over to the business office working as a cashier. After they closed, she worked at the former DiCarlos Market in Mingo where she was a bookkeeper. She also sold AVON for many years and was a Notary Public. She was a member of the former Mingo First United Methodist Church and was a member of Buena Vista Methodist Church. She was a member of the Red Hats of Steubenville; the Mingo Womens Club; and a former member of the LaBelle Chapter Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving are a son, Rusty O’Dell of Steubenville, OH; five grandchildren, Andrew O’Dell and his companion Anna Perrino, Zachary O’Dell, Madison Fields and Stone and Ian O’Dell; three great-grandchildren, Aralynn and Ashton Russell O’Dell and Caroline Rodgers; two brothers, William (Debra) Wheeler of Mingo Junction/Brilliant, OH and Thomas (Nancy) Wheeler of Denton, MD; and three sisters, Peggy Magruder of Little River, SC, Nancy (Larry) Young of Crescent, PA and Becky (Bill) Wright of Wheeling, WV.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, OH, on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of her funeral services at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. John Ater, officiating. Masks are recommended at the funeral home. Private interment at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo Junction, OH.
