Melodie “Kay” Hartness, 63, of Richmond, OH, passed away Sunday January 14, 2024 at the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH

She was born September 9, 1960 in Ravenna, OH, a daughter of the late Gaylord Eugene and Dorothea A. (Beaver) Herriott.

Kay was a homemaker and an avid animal lover.

Surviving are her husband, Dale J. Hartness, whom she married May 8, 2007; three children, Khoa (Jason) Evans of Elyria, OH, Tara (Jaremee) Costlow of Mingo Junction, OH and Cynthia (Elizabeth) Nguyen of Cleveland, OH; four siblings, William (Pam) Johnson of Martins Ferry, OH, Fran (Tim) Kormos of North Royalton, OH, Gary (Laura) Herriott of Elyria, OH and George “Sonny” Rood; five grandchildren, Angelo Evans, K. Matello, Arianna Evans, Ivy Costlow and Alec Costlow; her mother-in-law, Opal Hartness of Brunswick, OH; and her father-in-law, Johnny Eugene “Gene” Hartness of Long Bottom, OH.

Friends and family are invited to gather for a luncheon in remembrance of Kay on Saturday March 23rd at 4 p.m. at the Advent Episcopal Church, 3760 Dover Center Rd., Westlake, OH 44145.
