Mary Rose Belcher (Colabella), 99, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away peacefully with her daughter Mary Sheila and family by her side on Sunday September 10, 2023, at the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH.
She was born December 23, 1923 in Mingo Junction, OH, a daughter of the late Angelo and Carmella Colabella. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Donald Lewis Belcher; six brothers, Anthony Sr., Basil, Daniel, Joseph, Mike, and Tony Colabella; and one sister, Lucy (Lucia) Dagan.
Mary retired from The Kroger Company on 7th Street in Steubenville where she worked in the meat department for 35 years. She took great pride in her work and made many lifelong friends while working at Kroger. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church where she enjoyed fellowship with her friends, setting up coffee and donuts every Sunday morning and being a member of the Catholic Women’s Club.
Mary loved going on bus trips and especially enjoyed trips to Wheeling Island Casino to play the slot machines. As Mary got older, she loved to sit a play 500 Rum and Yatzee with her daughter and family. Mary also loved reciting The Rosary for her family and anyone else in need.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Sheila Locascio (Belcher), of Mingo Junction, OH; a granddaughter, Dawn Marie Laffey and her husband Brian; three great-grandsons, Jakob, Joshua and Joseph Laffey all of Westerville, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 204 St. Clair Ave., Mingo Junction, OH on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Fr. James M. Dunfee, celebrant. Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Steubenville, OH.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions may be directed in Mary’s memory to Valley Hospice, Inc, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, OH 43943.
