Lawrence G. “Larry” Roe, Jr., 63,of Brilliant, OH, passed away Friday May 14, 2021 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.
He was born August 22, 1957 in Cherry Point, NC a son of the late Lawrence G. and Darlene J. (Bates) Roe, Sr.
Lawrence retired in 2002 from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp where he worked as a heat helper. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Lawrence was a member of Rosemont Chapel. He coached softball for 30 years in both Smithfield and Brilliant with his best friends Sean Norman and Bud DeCesare. Lawrence enjoyed playing Santa alongside his aunt Burlene Hoagland Wittmer. He was awarded the Community Star Award in October 2008. Lawrence used to DJ and he enjoyed Karaoke. He was working on rebuilding a pontoon boat and it was almost ready to be put in the water. Lawrence enjoyed rooting for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Surviving are his wife, Cheryl (Long) Roe, whom he married January 23, 1976; a son, Lawrence G. (Heather) Roe, III of Smithfield, OH; a daughter, Elizabeth (Scott) Starr of Mingo Junction, OH; a brother, Mark (Debbie) Roe of Waco, TX; two sisters, Penny Dennis and Brenda (Tony) Muscari both of Brilliant, OH; and eight grandchildren, Auna, Neena, Scott Kason and Ryker Starr, Lila Roe, Dalton Barnes, Dayne Zinn and Shayla Zinn.
Friends will be received to celebrate his life at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, OH, on Saturday May 22nd from 3:00 p.m. until the time of his memorial service at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill Fulton, officiating. Masks are required at the funeral home.
