Kathryn "Joann" LaRue

Kathryn “Joann” LaRue, 89, of Brilliant, OH, passed away Saturday January 9, 2021 at Weirton Geriatric Center in Weirton, WV.

She was born October 17, 1931 in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of the late Joseph and Elsie (VanDyke) Ross. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George “Bill” LaRue, Sr. on January 7, 2019; two sons, Joseph LaRue and Bill “Lash” LaRue, Jr.; and two sisters, Audrey Malesick and Lillian Kovach.

Joann was a homemaker. She was a member of the Mingo First United Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Cathy (Harold “Buster”) Woodward of Rayland, OH; a daughter-in-law, Sandy LaRue of Steubenville, OH; eight grandsons and six great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the Golden Acres area at Weirton Geriatric Center for the exceptional care they gave to Joann.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, OH on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of her funeral services at 6:00 p.m. with Brandon Vandine, officiating. Private interment at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville, OH.

Masks are required and visitors are asked not to linger after they pay their respects.

Memorial contributions may be directed in Joann’s memory to the Mingo First United Presbyterian Church, 650 McLister Ave., Mingo Junction, OH 43938.
