Joseph L. Mannarino, Sr., 94, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, passed away Friday September 10, 2021 at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, Ohio.
He was born May 1, 1927 in Mingo Junction, OH a son of the late Frank and Mary (Coletti) Mannarino. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen R. Mannarino on May 10, 2014; and a brother, Vincent J. Mannarino.
Joe worked for 47 years and retired in 1989 where he was a boilermaker at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He graduated from Mingo High School in 1947 and served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII serving in the South Pacific during the invasion of the Philippines. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church; the St. Anthony’s Club; the Mingo American Legion Post #351 for over 50 years and the United Steel Workers 1190. He was also a councilman for the city of Mingo Junction from 1970-1986. Joe enjoyed hunting, playing his numbers and giving away lottery tickets.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph L. (Denise) Mannarino, Jr. and Ronald J. (Debbie) Mannarino both of Mingo Junction, OH; five grandchildren, Dr. Ronald Mannarino, Jacob (Julie) Mannarino, Lieutenant Commander Adam Mannarino, Krista Mannarino and Austin Mannarino; he will also be missed by his coffee friends at Paddy’s Diner.
Friends will be received at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 204 St. Clair Ave., Mingo Junction on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. and also on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of his Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 3:00 p.m., with Rev. Fr. James M. Dunfee, celebrant. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo. Military Honors by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad. The family is requesting masks at the church.
Memorial Contributions may be directed in Joe’s memory to St. Agnes Catholic Church.
There will be a Vigil service on Sunday at 5:45 p.m.
