Joanne R. Gorney

Joanne R. Gorney, 84, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Saturday August 16, 2025 at the home of her niece Kim in Wintersville, OH. 

She was born January 17, 1941 in Mingo Junction, OH, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Baly) Valuska. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband of 63 years James A. Gorney on November 1, 2024; and three brothers, John R. Valuska, Dr. James W. Valuska, Sr. and an infant brother, Thomas Valuska.

Joanne was a secretary for almost 40 years at Titanium Metals in Toronto, OH. She also owned J&J Art Studio and Framing in Mingo Junction with her late husband Jim. Joanne was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Wintersville and a member and former president of the GFWC Womens Club in Mingo Junction, OH.

Surviving are two brothers, David (Charlotte) Valuska of Kutztown, PA and Kenneth (Paula) Valuska of Toledo, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

In following with Joanne’s wishes her burial will be private at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo.
