James H. “Jags” Huggins, Jr., 61, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away suddenly Wednesday November 9, 2022, at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.
He was born January 9, 1961 in Steubenville, OH and was preceded in death by his step-sister, Michele Paulman.
Jags worked as a customer service supervisor for American Electric Power. He graduated from Mingo High School in 1979 and then went on to earn his Bachelors degree in Radio/TV Communications with a Minor in Journalism from Ohio University. He was co-owner of Ohio Valley Sports Online and was an avid sports fan, especially following the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Michigan Wolverines. He is serving his community as the Clerk for the Village of Mingo Junction. Jags enjoyed hanging out with his friends and loved animals. He especially liked golfing and vacations at Myrtle Beach. Jags was Methodist by Faith.
He is survived by his father, James H. “Jim” Huggins, Sr. and his wife Loretta of Steubenville, OH; his mother, Millie (Stewart) Huggins of Mingo Junction, OH; two sisters, Sandy (Chris) Collins of Athens, OH and Susie Huggins of Mingo Junction, OH; a nephew, Justin Collins of Athens, OH; three step-siblings, Rob Cochrun of Wintersville, OH, Sheila (Jeff) Wajda of Bloomingdale, OH and Rich Cochrun of Strausburg, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction on Saturday from 2-7 p.m. and also on Sunday from 2-7 p.m. On Monday there will be viewing from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Proya, officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo Junction, OH.
