James A. "Jim" Gorney

James A. “Jim” Gorney, 84, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Friday November 1, 2024 at Liza’s Place in Wheeling, WV

He was born November 2, 1939, in Weirton, WV a son of the late Joseph Gorney and Bertha (Riddle) Richards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Harold Richards; a brother, Ronald Gorney; and two step-brothers, Gene Richards and Dickey Richards.

Jim retired from Indian Creek School District where he was a teacher for 42 years. He was also the owner of J&J Art Studio and Framing in Mingo Junction. He enjoyed golfing and running on route 7 from Mingo Junction to Brilliant.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Joanne (Valuska) Gorney, whom he married July 8, 1961; a step-brother, Kevin Richards of Brookside, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

In following with Jim’s wishes there will be no services. Private burial at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo Junction, OH.
