Edmond Gayle Johnson of Steubenville, Ohio, formerly of Brilliant, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2023 at the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH.
He was born in Wellsville, Ohio to the late Steve Johnson and Helen Euella (Thorne) Johnson. He retired from Ohio Power after nearly 44 years of service at the Tidd and Cardinal Power Plants. He spent almost 8 years in the US Naval Reserves.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his ever-loving wife Marilyn Ann (Kerr) Johnson; a brother William; a sister Mary Ann; and an infant granddaughter.
Gayle was a member of First United Presbyterian Church of Brilliant, Old Fort Steuben, and various other organizations.
Gayle is survived by three sons, Jeffrey (Tammy) Johnson of Houston, TX, Todd (Doda) Johnson of Rockville, MD, Brent (Stephanie) Johnson of Hilliard, OH, and daughter Pamela (Allen) Austin of Cincinnati, OH.
Gayle is also survived by eight grandchildren, Michelle Day, Melissa Kingsbury, Amanda Stapleton, Abigayle Austin, Tony Johnson, Kerri Johnson, Kyle Johnson, and Emma Johnson; and four great grandchildren, Preston, Hailey, Madeline, and Parker.
Friends will be received on Saturday at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of his funeral service at 4:00 p.m., with Rev. David Roberts, officiating. Private burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville, OH.
