Douglas A Smith

Douglas A. Smith, 65, of Brilliant, OH, passed away Tuesday January 13, 2026 at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.

He was born June 17, 1960, in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late Clyde L. “Smitty” and Lois J. “Jeane” (Rouse) Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his companion, Tina M. Doty.

Doug was a skilled lineman who spent his career with Johnson Controls, where he worked stretching Comcast cable. Doug could fix just about anything and was always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed working on old cars, and spending time in the garage tinkering and restoring. He also loved NASCAR races.

Surviving are three sisters, Barbara Smith of Brilliant, OH, Bonnie (Donnie) Zavolta of Mingo Junction, OH and Donna Hanlin of Bloomingdale, OH; a brother, David L. Smith and his companion Sherry Ridge of Tucson, AZ; his good friend, Marie Gardner of Weirton, WV; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful dalmatian, Charlie.

In following with Doug’s wishes there will be no services.
