Doris J. Phillips, 89, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2020 peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 14, 1931 in Wetzel County, WV, a daughter of the late Homer and Daisy (Taylor) Hinerman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years, Jack N. Phillips; her daughter, Debra J. Phillips; a son, Homer Phillips; a grandson, John Walkup; a brother, Jim Hinerman; a sister, Mary Fern Rush; and a daughter-in-law, Judy Phillips.
Doris was a homemaker that loved to play BINGO, quilt, research family genealogy, and attending family gatherings. She was one of the kindest people you would ever meet and never met a stranger. She was famous for her peanut butter fudge.
Doris was a lifelong member of the New Alexandria Liberty Grange where she was very active, holding many positions over the years. She was also a member of the New Alexandria United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Steve Phillips and James “Jimbo” (Kaye) Phillips; thirteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; three nieces; and many many friends.
Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St. Brilliant, OH on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. There will also be viewing on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral services at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jimm Woods, officiating. Interment will follow at New Alexandria Cemetery.
