Donald E. Grant

Donald E. Grant, 95, of Brilliant, OH, passed away Tuesday June 13, 2023 at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.

He was born April 10, 1928 in New Castle, PA a son of the late Ralph and Ruth (Murray) Grant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty A. (Basso) Grant on April 16, 2016; and a sister, JoAnn Harbour.

Don worked at the former Tidd Plant as the Coal Yard supervisor after the Tidd plant closed, he worked as a utility supervisor at the AEP Cardinal Plant in Brilliant until his retirement in 1990. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. Donald was a member of the Brilliant Christian Church; the Brilliant American Legion; and the Brilliant Lions Club where he held several offices. Mayor G was very active in the former Village of Brilliant, where he was the President of Council as well as the Mayor. He was also on the Brilliant Water Board. Don enjoyed woodworking.

Surviving are two sons, Garth (Colleen) Grant of Chesterland, OH and Greg (Christina) Grant of Brilliant, OH; a daughter, Gayla Grant of Brilliant, OH; seven grandchildren, Caitlin (Jamie), Kyle (Galya), Maggie (Matt), Halle (Rob), Molly, Casey and Jessica; seven great-grandchildren, Oakley, Sonny, Bloom, Wilson, Lennon, Romona, and Trevor; and one great-grandchild on the way.

In following with Donald’s wishes private graveside services will be held at New Alexandria Cemetery.
