David C. Heaton, 67, of Brilliant, OH, passed away Wednesday October 12, 2022 at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH
He was born November 5, 1954 in Steubenville, OH, a son of David O. Heaton of Mingo Junction, OH and the late Miriam V. (Cottrell) Heaton. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ellsworth and Lois Heaton; and his maternal grandparents, Clem and Pearl Cottrell.
David retired in 2020 from the W.H. Sammis Power Plant where he was a test repair electrician. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. “Mad Dog” as he was known by many, enjoyed woodworking and collecting model trains. He especially enjoyed building and riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Brenda (Oiler) Heaton, whom he married on January 17, 1981; three sons, David L. (Stephanie) Heaton of Brilliant, OH, Matthew B. (Michelle) Heaton of Wellsburg, WV and Christopher M. Heaton of Brilliant, OH; a brother, Douglas (Mary Jo) Heaton of Blaine, OH; a sister, Diane (Dr. Michael) Moran of Murfreesboro, TN; and three grandchildren, Calin “CJ” Heaton, Caitlyn Heaton and Ryker Heaton.
Friends will be received to celebrate David’s life at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, OH on Thursday October 20th from 3:00 p.m. until the time of his memorial service at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. John Ater, officiating. Military honors before the service by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
