Cynthia (Matthews) Phillis

Cynthia "Cindy" Phillis, 61, of New Alexandria, Ohio died Sunday April 13, 2025.  She was born on Oct. 27, 1963 in Steubenville, Ohio, the daughter of Terry and Naomia (Wilson) Matthews of Brilliant.  

Cindy graduated from Buckeye North High School and Jefferson Community College.  She was a Presbyterian by faith and formally attended the New Alex Community Chapel.  Cindy enjoyed time with her grandchildren, baking, gardening, woodworking and staying at the Resort.  

In addition to her parents, Cindy is survived by her husband Scott whom she married Sept. 19, 1992; one son,  Jacob a student at West Liberty College at home; one daughter, Cassandra (Dylan) Myers; one brother, T. Brian Matthews of Cadiz, OH; one sister, Janice (Bruce) Hanshaw of New Alexandria; and 3 grandchildren, Dylan J. Myers II, Adler L. Myers, and Elsie J. Myers.  

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third Street, Brilliant, Ohio Thursday 2-4 and 6-8, where services will be held Friday at 11:00, with Pastor Jimm Woods, officiating.  Interment to follow in The New Alexandria Cemetery.
