Carolyn J. "Nee Nee" Hagan

Carolyn J. “Nee Nee” Hagan, 74, of Austintown, OH, formerly of Steubenville, OH, passed away Wednesday June 7, 2023 at Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital in Youngstown, OH.

She was born September 15, 1948 in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of the late John T. and Mary Elizabeth (Smith) McDonald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hagan; and a brother, Peter Hoffman.

Carolyn retired from the former Ohio Valley Hospital where she was a nurses aide. She was a member and custodian at the La Belle View Church of Christ in Steubenville, OH and graduated from Steubenville Catholic Central High School in 1967. Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she also liked to watch TV, especially True Crime, Dr. Pol and MSNBC.

Surviving are her four children, Aimee (Ron) Gardner of Calcutta, OH, Dr. John (Sara) Hagan of Germantown, TN, Becky Henry of Austintown, OH and Mary (Teddy) Bessesen of Decatur, IN; a sister, Barbara Waters of Lantana, FL; ten grandchildren, Megan (Jonny) Doyle, Tim Gardner, Kathryn (Brandon) Davis, Emaline and Benjamin Hagan, Lucas and Liam Henry and Olivia, Sydney and Caroline Bessesen; and four great-grandchildren, Brayden and Logan Davis, Carter King and Eniyah Dameron.  

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, OH on Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of her funeral service at 6:00 p.m. with her family sharing stories and memories.
