Beverly J. (Dean) Kurner

Beverly J. Kurner, 77, of Wheeling, WV, passed away Thursday March 6, 2025 at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

She was born April 10, 1947 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a daughter of the late James H. and Margaret J. (Long) Dean. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James A. Dean.

Bev was a homemaker while her children were growing up, then she worked as a bank teller at the former Steel Works Community Federal Credit Union for 18 years until her retirement in 2012. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, watching the wildlife in her backyard, spending time with her grandchildren, yearly vacations with her family, and going to Wheeling Island Racetrack.

She is survived by her husband, Dale E. Kurner, whom she married August 24, 1970; two sons, Michael D. Kurner and his wife Kristen Wheeler of Mingo Junction, OH and Doug Kurner and his companion Freya Pierce of Wheeling, WV; and two grandchildren, Brody and Harper Kurner.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, OH, on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Please wear purple in Bev’s memory. Chapel services will be held on Monday at Noon at Park View Memorial Gardens in Wheeling, WV with Pastor Devin Ames, officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed in Bev’s memory to the Betty Zane Community Center, 124 M & M Lane, Wheeling, WV 26003.
