Bernadette “Bernie” Carpico, 88, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Sunday June 25, 2023 at The Carriage Inn of Steubenville, OH.
She was born April 2, 1935 in Mingo Junction, OH, a daughter of the late Paul J. and Anna (Ubrin) Byers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Byers.
Bernie was a homemaker; a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and the Catholic Womens Club at the church; and a very active member of the Mingo Womens Club. She graduated from Mingo High School in 1953 where she was a majorette. She loved to cook and bake, but most importantly she loved spending time with her family.
Surviving are her devoted husband of 68 years, Baci J. Carpico, whom she married April 30, 1955; four children, Michael Carpico of Brilliant, OH, Craig (Cheri) Carpico of The Villages, FL, Beth Ann (David) Fristick of Wheeling, WV and Brenda (Frank) Perrino of Mingo Junction, OH; a brother, Richard (Anita) Byers of Mingo Junction, OH; nine grandchildren, Michael (Erica) Carpico, Christopher (Stephanie) Carpico, Stephanie (Brandon) Wineman, Stephanie Carpico, Heather (Dustin) DeFranco, Olivia (Scott) Berry, Reva (Gabe) Rohmann, Anna Perrino (Andrew O’Dell), and Anthony Perrino; fifteen great-grandchildren, Gavin Carpico, Carson and Cooper Carpico, Kaitlyn, Breanna and Gunner Wineman, Rocco, Bruno, Lucy, Dash, Za and Xiao DeFranco, Myla Berry and Aaralynn and Ashton O’Dell; and one great-great-grandson, Tatem Lawson.
Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, OH on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. On Friday there will be viewing at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 204 St. Clair Ave., Mingo Junction, OH from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. James M. Dunfee, celebrant. Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Steubenville, OH.
There will be a Vigil service on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
