William L. "Bill" Sims, 81, of Mingo Junction, Ohio passed away Wednesday June 15, 2016 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 12, 1935 in Columbus, Ohio, a son of the late Wilbur and Ruth (VanDine) Sims. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger A. Sims; two sisters, Mary Ann Speaker and Ernestine Reed; and a grandson, Kyle Henry.

Bill worked for the former Ohio Bell then retired from AT&T. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. and was a member of the former Holy Name Cathedral and a member of the former Annunciation Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara (Duskey) Sims, whom he married on June 21, 1958; three daughters, Stacey (Ron) Seegolam of Bristow, VA, Karen Sims and Melanie Sims, both of Mingo Junction, Ohio; two granddaughters, Madison Sims of Mingo Junction and Emily Seegolam of Bristow, VA; a brother, John (Sharon) Sims of Mingo Junction, Ohio; a sister, Jeanie Miskimmons of Marietta, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave. Mingo Junction, on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of his funeral services at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Fr. James M. Dunfee, officiating. Private interment at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo Junction.
