Tommy McDonald Sogan, 90, of Mingo Junction, Ohio passed away Saturday August 20, 2016 in the emergency room at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, Ohio.

She was born September 29, 1925 in Bridgeport, Ohio, a daughter of the late Henry C. and Bernice L. (Gretzinger) McDonald. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry E. and Elmer T. McDonald; a sister, Betty Lee Hayes; and her former husband, George "Dudach" Sogan.

Tommy was a registered nurse having graduated from the Methodist School of Nursing in Gary, Indiana and she was the head nurse on a private floor at the former Ohio Valley Hospital retiring in the late 1970's. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Labelle Chapter #414; a member of the White Shrine; and a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Steubenville. Tommy was poll worker in the Mingo Junction precincts; a volunteer for the Red Cross for over 20 years; and she also donated over 10 gallons of blood over her lifetime.

Surviving are a son, George H. "Sonny" (Kathe Skaggs) Sogan of Mingo Junction; a daughter, Elizabeth "Betty" (Richard) Schart of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Matthew R. (Kristyn) Schart and Kurtis S. (Caitlin) Schart; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Schart, Nolan Schart, Emmalyn Schart and Ethan Schart; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral services at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. John D. Ater, officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville, Ohio.

There will be services by the Eastern Star on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m.
