Thomas Ely, 74, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Friday July 21, 2023 at Weirton Medical Center in Weirton, WV.

Thomas was born on December 20, 1948 in Follansbee, WV, a son of the late Elmer and Claudia (Wayson) Ely.

Thomas was a former police officer for the Village of Brilliant, OH and then he retired from the service department at Wells Township. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and the Mingo Knights of Columbus Council 4361. Thomas enjoyed fixing things, tinkering around, and spending time with his family. He was an Ohio State and Cleveland Browns fan.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara (Pickford) Ely, whom he married April 30, 1994; a son, Chris (Lisa) Forrester of Mingo Junction, OH; a daughter, Courtney (Milo) Sanders of Wintersville, OH; and four grandchildren, Noah and Madelyn Forrester and Myla and Sophia Sanders.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Avenue, Mingo Junction, OH on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of his funeral service at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Fr. James M. Dunfee, officiating.
