Theodore W. "Ted" Kopcha, 72, of Mingo Junction, Ohio passed away Tuesday September 13, 2016 at The Sanctuary at Tuttle Crossing in Dublin, Ohio.

He was born February 12, 1944 in Mingo Junction, Ohio, a son of the late Stephen and Anna (Halischak) Kopcha. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Romanda.

He graduated from Mingo High School in 1962. Ted continued his education and attended the University of Cincinnati where he earned a Bachelor of Science and Chemistry Degree in 1969.

Ted retired from Abitec Corps where he was a process development manager. He was Orthodox by Faith.

Ted had a passion for hunting and collecting guns. For years, he built model air planes. He enjoyed hanging out with his dog Gizmo.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Joan (Jim) Phillippi of West Jefferson, Ohio; two brothers, Fr. John (Paula) Kopcha of Mingo Junction, Ohio and Robert (Judy) Kopcha of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Kathryn (Paul) Cutri of Steubenville, Ohio; two grandchildren, Haley Phillippi and her fiancé Stephen Borden and Corey (Lydia) Phillippi; and the mother of his daughter Mary, Flora Kopcha of Westerville, Ohio.

Friends will be received on Friday September 16th from 4-7 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at St. Andrew Orthodox Church at 11:00 a.m. with his brother the V. Rev. John Kopcha, officiating. A repass dinner at the church will follow the funeral service, and then interment will take place at Northern Cemetery in Smithfield, Ohio.
