Scott L. Dawson, 96, of New Alexandria, OH passed away Wednesday September 5, 2018 at the home of his son Jim.

He was born April 8, 1922 in New Alexandria, Ohio, a son of the late Dwight and Catherine (Ross) Dawson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Margaret "Peg" Dawson on August 2, 2017; two sisters, Ruth (John) Detrich and Dorothy (Harry) McCue; and two brothers, Ross (Jean) Dawson and John (Mary Carol) Dawson.

Scott was a member of the New Alexandria United Methodist Church; the Tri State Marine Corps Club; Laborers Union Local 809; Jefferson County Fairboard for 15 years; the Massey Harris Ferguson Club of Ohio; and was an advisor of the New Alexandria Livestock 4-H club for 19 years. He spent his life as a farmer and on construction; and enjoyed woodworking and making lighted Christmas decorations. He served his country and fought with the 4th Marines during World War II and was involved in the actions on Saipan and Tinian.

Surviving are three sons, Tom (Pam) Dawson of Jewett, OH, Richard (Rosemary) Dawson of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; and Jim (Donna) Dawson of Toronto, OH; four grandchildren, Chris (Penny) Dawson, Scott (Jennifer) Dawson, Lisa Dawson, and Christine (Erik) Peterson; and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and also on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his funeral services at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Jimm Woods, officiating. Interment will follow at New Alexandria Cemetery.

There will be a pass and review by the Tri-State Marine Corps Club at 7:30 on Friday.
