Sara R. Everson, 79, of Brilliant, OH, passed away Friday August 25, 2023 at the Laurels of Steubenville.

She was born December 9, 1943 in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of the late Ray F. and Estella M. (Straight) Grounds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Raeann Childers.

Sara was a homemaker, enjoying the time she spent with her kids and grandkids. She graduated from Brilliant High School in 1961 and was a member of the Colliers Way Church of Christ. Sara helped her husband with the Brilliant Lions Club; she loved being a football mom and grandma; and she enjoyed watching the birds, especially cardinals.

Surviving are her husband of 62 years, James Dean "Jim" Everson, whom she married September 25, 1961; two children, Caroline (Chris) Everson-Clarke of Bexley, OH and David (Stacey) Everson of Columbus, OH; a son-in-law, Craig Childers of Pickerington, OH; eight grandchildren, Kaley (Kyle) McNulty, Amber Childers, Justin (Montana) Childers, Andrew Everson, Sydney Everson, Benjamin Everson, Melaney Ellis and Makenna Ellis; and two great grandchildren, Crew Childers and August McNulty.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, OH, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tom Derby, officiating. Interment will follow at New Alexandria Cemetery.
