Rick W. "Tar" Simmons, 57, of Georgetown, PA, passed away Saturday June 22, 2024 in Steubenville, OH.

He was born May 9, 1967 in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late Gloria J. (Zesiger) Simmons and Harold C. "Chuck" Simmons of Mingo Junction, OH.

Rick was a field tech for 37 years at RDS. He was a member of the Everyday Church in East Liverpool, OH. He loved going to the beach, taking hikes with the dogs and riding dirt bikes. He was a Big Red football fan. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren they were his world.

In addition to his father, he will be missed by his wife, Cathy (Coven) Simmons, whom he married August 17, 2008; two daughters, Heather (Zanakqua) Mason of Columbus, OH and Jenna (Daniel) Dunfee of Aliquippa, PA; a step-son, Scott (Kerri) Snyder of Industry, PA; a brother, Douglas P. (the late Maria) Simmons of Mingo Junction, OH; and five grandchildren, Khai Hudson, Zander, Leo and Kendall Mason and William Dunfee.

Friends will be received to celebrate his life on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Avenue, Mingo Junction, OH. Private interment at Two Ridges Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Wintersville, OH, with services by Pastor Mike Direnzo.
