Nathan A. "Nate" Bates, 24, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Wednesday February 4, 2026.

He was born June 14, 2001 in Martins Ferry, OH. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Gerald W. "Jerry" Bates, Jr. and his maternal grandfather, Gene Brown.

Nate graduated from Buckeye Local High School in 2019. He worked as a water transfer operator for Clearwater Oil and Gas. Nate loved spending time outdoors and he enjoyed fishing and restoring cars and trucks.

He is survived by his father, Gregory S. Bates and his fiancé Pamela Lucas of Mingo Junction, OH; his mother, Nicole M. (Brown) Bates of Washington, PA; two brothers, Sean Bates of Washington, PA and Greg (Myra) Bates of Harrisville, OH; his paternal grandmother, Betty Bates of Brilliant, OH; and his maternal grandmother, Teresa Pebler of Martins Ferry, OH.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, OH, on Wednesday February 11th from 11:00 a.m. until the time of his funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Raymond C. Cooper, officiating.  Interment will follow at New Alexandria Cemetery. There will be a dinner at 3:00 p.m. at Rosemont Chapel, 23 Williams Blvd., Steubenville, OH
