Mildred A. Sterling, 95, of Brilliant, OH, passed away Thursday June 24, 2021 at the Carriage Inn of Steubenville.

She was born March 23, 1926 in Wileyville, WV a daughter of the late Cary F. and Lillian (Postlethwait) Cain. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence Cain and two infants Harry and Patrick Cain; and five sisters, Ruby Hamil, Vaughn Jeskiewicz, Edith Miller, Genovia Sponaugle and Virginia Miller.

Mildred was a homemaker and member of the former First Church of the Nazarene in Steubenville, OH.

Surviving are her husband of 77 years, Gilbert W. Sterling, whom she married August 8, 1943; four sons, Lawrence E. Sterling and his companion Sharon Weldon of Brilliant, OH, Roger D. (Susan) Sterling of Franklin, WV, Gilbert L. (Lola) Sterling of Brilliant, OH and Norman L. (Joyce) Sterling of Brilliant, OH; a sister, Pansy Farmer of Independence, KY; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, OH, where her funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Todd Miller, officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Steuben Burial Estates.
