Gary "Mike" Rusnak, 71, of Brilliant, OH, passed away Thursday March 30, 2023 at home.

He was born March 29, 1952 in Steubenville, OH a son of the late Stanley and Bertha Mae (Bell) Rusnak. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Rudy and Sandy Rusnak; and a sister, Barbie Henry.

Mike worked at the former Weirton Steel/ArcelorMittal as a millwright and in truck repair from 1973 until his retirement in 2014. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Era. He was Protestant by Faith and a member of the Brilliant Lions Club; the Mingo Sportsman Club; the Steubenville Masonic Lodge 45 F&AM; the Brilliant American Legion Post 573, where he was past commander and held several offices; and a past member of the 40&8 of Jefferson County. He also held several positions in the Village of Brilliant. Mike enjoyed watching football and was an avid Ohio State Fan. His favorite thing to do was watch his grandkids participate in all of their events.

Surviving are his wife, DeeDee (Babb) Rusnak, whom he married August 6, 1974; two sons, Brian (Monika) Rusnak of Columbus, OH and Scotty (Christina) Rusnak of Richmond, OH; five grandchildren, Jenna, Kailyn, Austin, Tessa and Coen Rusnak; a brother-in-law, Todd Henry of Brilliant, OH; a sister-in-law, Marian (Tim) County of Richmond, OH; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, on Monday from 2-4 p.m. Mike will receive military honors by the Brilliant American Legion at 4:00 p.m. and his funeral service will follow with Pastor Jim Monogioudis, officiating. There will be a Lions Club service at 3:45 p.m.
