Maurice "Dexter" Brewer, 77, of Rayland, OH, passed away Monday December 4, 2023 at Forrest Hill Healthcare in St. Clairsville, OH.

He was born March 3, 1946 in Birmingham, AL a son of the late Elton Brewer and Evelyn L. (Fluharty) Brewer Stewart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Kenneth Eugene Stewart; a brother, Douglas (Doug) Stewart and a sister, Martha Louise Brewer.

Dexter retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp. where he was an electrician. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Germany. He enjoyed fishing, spending time in his garage and watching Alabama football.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn "Evie" (Scivinsky) Brewer, whom he married Sept. 4, 1965; two sisters-in-law, Mary Kay (Melvin) Letusick and Paulette (the late Rob) Coss both of Rayland, OH; three nieces and nephews, Mark (Leslie) Letusick, Miranda (Derek) Zoladz and Robert Paul Coss; and two great-nephews, Mason and Luke Letusick. There are also many loving Fluharty cousins to cherish his memory.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday January 6, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the West Liberty Christian Church, 742 Van Meter Way, West Liberty, WV 26074. Interment will follow at Kadesh Chapel Cemetery in Beech Bottom, WV.

Memorial contributions may be directed in Dexter's memory to the T.E.A.R. fund at the Tony Teramana Cancer Center, 3204 Johnson Rd., Steubenville, OH 43952.
