Mary Agnes “Aggie” Stanwick, 87, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, passed away Thursday March 26, 2026 at Sienna Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Wintersville, OH.
She was born June 14, 1938 in Wheeling, WV, a daughter of the late Zygmunt and Anna Marie (Matusek) Jaworski. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael L. “Mick” Stanwick on December 22, 2011; a brother, Chuck Jaworski; and three sisters, Janey Linn-Dunfee, Lillian Long and Evelyn Jenkins.
Aggie was a 1955 graduate of the former St. Joseph Academy in Wheeling, West Virginia, now known as Wheeling Central Catholic High School. She was a licensed customer service agent and worked for many years at the former Mitchell Insurance in Mingo Junction and later at Diamond Insurance in Steubenville, retiring in 2009.
Aggie was a member of the former Annunciation Catholic Church in Mingo and is a current member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Mingo, where she also belonged to the Catholic Women’s Club. She enjoyed taking long walks, spending time at the beach, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Education was extremely important to Aggie, and she was especially proud that both of her children were college graduates.
Surviving are a daughter, Michelle (Doug) Schaefer of Wintersville, OH; a son, David (Cindy) Stanwick of Marysville, OH; two grandchildren, Lauren Schaefer and Brendan Schaefer; and many nieces and nephews whom consider her their favorite aunt.
Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction on Monday from 5-7 p.m. On Tuesday there will be viewing at St. Agnes Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. James M. Dunfee, celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville, OH.
