Mark T. "Whit" Whitaker, Sr., 66, of Mingo Junction, Ohio passed away Sunday August 14, 2016 in his home.

He was born June 21, 1950 in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late Thomas M. and Hazel V. (Blankenship) Whitaker.

Mark was a retired bricklayer at Weirton Steel Corp. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing.

Surviving are a daughter, Aimee Whitaker of North Palm Beach, FL; a son, Mark T. (Alyssa) Whitaker, Jr. of Wellington, FL; a granddaughter, Sidney Whitaker; a sister, Janice (Thomas) Gardner of Bloomingdale, Ohio; a niece, Tara (Stan) Gardner Cottis; a nephew, Tom (Kristen) Gardner; a great-niece; and two great-nephews.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services and burial will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at New Alexandria Cemetery with Rev. John D. Ater, officiating.
