Marilyn J. Walters, 79, of Brilliant, OH, passed away Friday May 27, 2022, in the Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, OH.
She was born March 13, 1943 in Mingo Junction (Georges Run), OH, a daughter of the late Charles and Jane (Pflugh) Freiling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Stewart and Charlene Taylor; and her beloved dogs, Ben, Harley and Hattie.
Marilyn graduated from Mingo High School in 1961 and was a homemaker. She was an excellent baker, pie maker, and was known as "The Apple Dumpling Lady". She was also honored for being a Herald Star Community Star in 2003. Marilyn was a member of the Brilliant Methodist Church and the Mary Martha Circle at the church.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years Larry D. Walters, whom she married on December 28, 1963; three children, Karen Walters, Kelly (Scott) Sutphin and Bryan Walters and his fiancé Georgette Gibb, all of Brilliant, OH; three grandchildren, Sarah Selman and her companion Joseph Hendershot, Justin (Christina) Sutphin and Kyle (Tori) Sutphin; and five great-grandchildren, Sophia, Teagan, Joey, Branson and Payton.
Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, OH on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John D. Ater, officiating.
