Maria K. Simmons, 53, of Mingo Junction, Ohio passed away Wednesday November 20, 2019 in the emergency room at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, OH.

She was born September 14, 1966 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a daughter of the late Clyde Hardy and Rose (Motto) Merckle.

Maria was a homemaker and she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandson Carter.  She was also an avid Big Red Football Fan and liked to play cards and bingo.

Surviving are her husband Douglas Simmons, whom she married on November 5, 1983; a daughter Angela Marie Simmons and her companion Ryan Ensell of Mingo Junction, OH; a grandson, Carter Simmons-Ensell of Mingo Junction, OH; a sister, Robin Hardy of Brilliant, OH; and a brother, Tony (Cathy) Hardy of Weirton, WV.

The family would like to thank the staff at DCI Dialysis clinic for the great care they have given Maria over the years.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral services at Noon with Pastor Bill Westling, officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the funeral home to help the family through this difficult time.
