Margaret E. “Marge” Kendrach, 85, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday October 26, 2026 at UPMC Trinity in Steubenville, OH.
She was born December 9, 1940 in Holidays Cover, WV, a daughter of the late Michael and Stephania “Stella” (Baron) Bodnar. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William J. “Bill” “Wahoo” Kendrach on November 13, 2021; and four sisters, infant Kathryn Bodnar, Mary Charnie, Emma Davies and Catherine Iaconis.
Marge worked as a registered nurse at Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glendale, WV, until her retirement in 2007. As a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Mingo, she brought people together by organizing parties for more than 60 years. She also served as secretary and treasurer of the Greek Catholic Union for many years.
Marge was well known for her delicious cabbage rolls and loved the simple pleasure of being with the people she cared about. She enjoyed the ocean, cruises, boating on the river, a game of euchre with family and friends, playing solitaire the old fashion way with a deck of cards, and word search and crossword puzzles. She looked forward to monthly dinners with her classmates from the Follansbee Class of 1958. Above all, her family and extended family held the most important place in her heart. Whether it was a party or a casual get-together, what mattered most to Marge was sharing that time with them.
Surviving are her six children, Carla (Mark) Gasser of Wintersville, OH, William Kendrach of Mingo Junction, OH, Joanne Kendrach of Cornelius, NC, Cindy (Matt) Pitroff of South Beach, FL, Mike (Angie) Kendrach of Birmingham, AL and John (Paula) Kendrach of Mooresville, NC; a sister, Dorothy Grecula of Dubin, OH; four grandchildren, Sara Gasser, Josh (Alyssa) Kendrach, Jacob Gasser and Kash Kendrach; three great-grandchildren, Jude, Mila and Liam; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, on Sunday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m., there will be a Parastas service at 3:00 p.m. On Monday a Requiem Divine Liturgy will be held at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m., with Very Reverend David A. Bosnich as celebrant. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo Junction.
