Larry G. "Sonny" "Wooz" Merritt, 78, of Brilliant, Ohio, passed away Friday March 17, 2017, at the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, Ohio.

He was born July 15, 1938 in Parkersburg, WV a son of the late Leonard and Evelyn (Danford) Merritt. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Hobart "Jim" Merritt; and two sisters, Betty and Garnet.

Larry retired from Weirton Steel Corp., where he worked in the Sheet Mill. He served his country in the U.S. Army and enjoyed golfing, especially at Red Oaks Country Club.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia (Loper) Merritt, whom he married February 3, 1961; a son, Tracy Merritt of Brilliant, Ohio; a daughter, Dawn (Dave) Onuffer of Crestview, FL; a daughter-in-law, Hope Cross of Bridgeport, Ohio; a sister, Peggy Hagan of Wheeling, WV; four grandchildren, Allen Henry, Tiah Merritt, Brooklyn Onuffer and Lindsay Onuffer; and a great-grandchild, Jade Henry.
