Joyce E. Thompson, 72, of Mingo Junction, Ohio passed away Monday January 23, 2017 at Lancia Villa Royale Nursing Home in Steubenville, Ohio.

She was born June 10, 1944 in Steubenville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Willie and Goldie (Edge) Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Oliver and Janet Dodson; and two nephews, Michael Thompson and David Boyuk.

Joyce worked as a clerk at the former McCory's and also at Foodland. She was a cook at The Manor and also at the former Ohio Valley Hospital. She also did alterations for Two Brothers Dry cleaning. Her hobby was sewing but her real love was for her family and all the children.

Surviving are eight siblings, James "Sonny" Thompson of Imperial Beach, CA, Hattie Hays of Wintersville, OH, Jeannette (Lou) Panebianco, Mary (Joe) Ross, Bill (Mary Ann) Thompson, Albert (Maryann) Thompson, Rhonda (Jim) Boyuk, all of Mingo Junction, Ohio and Timothy (Maggie) Thompson of Jacksonville, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, where her funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m, with Kenny Korium, Jr., officiating.
