Joseph P. Ferry, Sr., 89, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Friday October 25, 2019, in the Carriage Inn of Steubenville, OH.
He was born June 6, 1930 in Mingo Junction, OH, a son of the late Pete and Rose (Laprete) Ferry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne (Dopudja) Ferry in 1994; a brother, Daniel "Buck" Ferry; and two sisters, Catherine Simkanin and Mae Rychlick.
Joe graduated from Mingo High School in 1948 and retired in 1992 from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp where he was a stationary engineer. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America Local 1190 in Steubenville and was a former union steward. Joe was a member of the Mingo First United Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Mingo Sportsman Club and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are four children, Rosemarie (James) Petrella of Houma, LA, Kathy (Curt) Skropits of Magnolia, OH, Joseph P. Ferry, Jr., Esq. (Doug) of Carmel, CA and Patrick (Lori) Ferry of Kenner, LA; eight grandchildren, Jamie Jo (Dustin) Walker, Chase (Tricia) Petrella, Nicole Skropits, Eric Skropits, Matthew Ferry, Emmett Ferry, Phillip (Christina) Ferry and Marianne (Chase) Sherman; and four great-grandchildren, Charlie Rose Walker, Stella Walker, McCoy Petrella and Mary Collins Petrella.
Friends will be received at the Mingo First United Presbyterian Church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his funeral services at 12:00 p.m. noon with Pastor Kenn Sickle, officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo Junction, OH.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed in Joe's memory to the Mingo First United Presbyterian Church, 650 McLister Ave., Mingo Junction, OH 43938.
