John "Edd" Young, 70, of Steubenville and Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Monday August 3, 2020 at the Carriage Inn of Steubenville. He was born on Nov. 5, 1949 in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late John and Edna (Fleming) Young. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James "Brigham" Young; a sister, Gladys "Cookie" Antill; and a great-grandson, Colton Charles Koons.

Edd served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and retired from doing home construction. He was Methodist by Faith and a former member of the VFW in Steubenville, OH. Edd enjoyed fishing, working on cars and helping others whenever he was needed.

Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Rita (Gonzales) Young whom he married June 9, 1990; seven children, Angie (Chuck) Graham of Atwater, OH, Carole (John) Thomas of Akron, OH, Trula (Dave) Rea of Dillonvale, OH, Petera (Greg) Robinson of Steubenville, OH, Pete (Laurie) Wounaris of Mingo Junction, OH, Christopher (Tammy) Young of Mingo Junction, OH and William Young of Mingo Junction, OH; a brother, Robert Young of Steubenville, OH; a sister, Phyllis (Gary) Bickerstaff of Steubenville, OH; seventeen grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, OH on Wednesday from 12-2 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. until the time of his funeral services at 6:00 a.m. with Rev. Tina Nees, officiating. Military honors at the funeral home by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad. Masks will be required at the funeral home and social distancing will be observed.
