Joann R. Slatniske, 91, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Saturday December 26, 2020 at the Laurels of Steubenville.

She was born October 3, 1929 in Martins Ferry, OH, a daughter of the late Edward and Hazel (Long) Hood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Slatniske, Sr. on January 28, 2001; and three brothers, Charles, Donald and Lloyd Hood.

Joann was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteering at the St. Agnes cafeteria and working the fish fry's. She loved playing cards and spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are two sons, John E. "Jack" Slatniske, Jr. of Steubenville, OH and Robert D. (Lori) Slatniske of Mingo Junction, OH; a daughter, Donna (Lorne) Rouse of Mingo Junction, OH; eight grandchildren, Jessica (Robert) Morgan, Shannon Stevens, Robyn (Brandon) Vandine, Robert Slatniske, Jr., Alicia Rouse, Lorne Rouse, Zachary Slatniske and Sarah (Ugurcan) Dagli; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic services will be private with Rev. Fr. James M. Dunfee, officiating. Private entombment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wheeler Funeral Homes, Mingo Junction.
